Cable and Cotton are a Brighton based UK company who sell the most amazing lights. They give typical fairy lights an edge with the addition of handmade lamps in a wide range of colours. I’d not seen much in the way of reviews before I purchased my Cable and Cotton Lights, so wanted to share my thoughts in what should (hopefully) be a helpful review.
I’ve wanted to buy some of these lights for a while now, but wasn’t sure what colours to choose as you can pick your own or buy pre-selected ones. However the recent addition of teal into our living room meant I could finally make a decision! I went for a string light with 20 lamps and chose pure white, chinese blue and chocolate brown coloured lamps – this was after spending an hour or so playing around with different combinations and generally enjoying myself on their site.
They were delivered pretty quickly, in around 3 business days, and I was really pleased with how they were packaged when they arrived – am I the only person who gets excited by packaging?
You have to assemble the lights yourself but this was really easy to do with simple and short instructions – the best kind! Only 4 steps on one piece of paper, it really couldn’t be more straightforward.
You have to plug the lights in to make sure they work (no problems there) before poking the lamps onto the lights. This was really straightforward, absolutely no tools were required, just a little push and twist through the little hole in the lamp.
Because you assemble the lights yourself you can choose the pattern you’d like for your lamps. I just arranged mine randomly as I went. I didn’t use all of the lamps on my string as I wanted to display them in a bell jar we received as a wedding gift. I still have 5 unused ones, and I may stick another 1 or 2 of those into the jar to fill it up, but here’s how it looks at the moment.
You can buy the lights online, directly from their website, here. I’m already wanting to buy another set for our house, I think they’d look great draped around a door, and I’ll definitely want some festive colours come the holiday season!
Disclaimer: I haven’t received anything in return for writing this post – I just genuinely love these lights and wanted to share my experience for anybody who might be interested in buying some themselves.
