Ikea Tundra Review

Ikea Tundra Review

So far in 2014 we seem to have a bit of a theme going on – flooring! We replaced some of the floors when we first moved into our home, a little over 2 years ago, but since then have worked with what we had already. There are still a lot of rooms that need doing, and the old carpet really is looking pretty grubby now, so we’re really pleased to be able to share at least one do over and product review today.

Our bedroom really is our haven – It’s decorated in calming tones with white accents and it’s fair to say we really do relax in here (it may help that it remains a puppy free zone). Over the Christmas break we decided that the beigey bleugh carpet really wasn’t cutting it any more and we needed something different, and more importantly – affordable!

We’ve fitted laminate flooring many times before, but have always gone for a natural coloured laminate from a local DIY store. However, I spotted the Ikea laminate flooring in their brochure and really wanted to give it a whirl. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find a great amount of information online, so it was a bit of a gamble, but thankfully one that’s paid off! In case you were wondering, the flooring we used was Ikea Tundra.

The floor was really easy to fit, it took us about 3 hours – including the removal and re-installation of the skirting boards. It seems to slat together quite well without minimal adjustment – always a massive plus. So far it seems to be holding up well, although we are having to vacuum a lot more, as the laminate is pale even the tiniest amount of dirt shows! I’d recommend this floor to friends, and I’m pretty sure that we’ll be using it to replace the carpet in our 3rd bedroom/study later this year. I’ve tried to capture the floor in different lights, but you can also check it out on the Ikea website directly. I can’t wait to share our second floor do over in a week or so!
