Master Bedroom Makeover

Master Bedroom Makeover

We’ve shared a few reveals of our home, but we’ve never shared our master bedroom. When we moved in (nearly a year ago now!) this was the first room we decorated. The room was very calm, with a grey and white colour scheme (standard) but the wallpaper we chose had a¬†small print and didn’t really add anything to the room. It was sort of on the to-do list but not a huge priority as we could live with it. Plus who wants to re-wallpaper when you’ve literally just done it?!

However, I recently saw a wallpaper that I loved whilst out shopping and suddenly the bedroom rocketed up the to-do list. Isn’t that always the way! Read on for the full reveal of our master bedroom makeover.

I can’t explain the difference that this wallpaper has made! They say is a picture is worth a 1000 words, so this is how our bedroom looked¬†before.

As you can see, not too offensive (and a definite improvement on the yellow/gold walls when we moved in) but not too exciting either. The wallpaper itself I still really like, but it just doesn’t make a statement:

So, that had to go. I’m not sure if a professional would advise this, but we decided to wallpaper over the top of the existing wallpaper. Mainly because we’re lazy and didn’t want to strip it all. It seems to be ok so far, but I know there are warnings that the paper can bubble. I’d recommend with caution if you’re lazy like us and decide to wallpaper over the top!

What do you think of our master bedroom makeover? I’m really pleased with the wallpaper (you can find it here BTW) and I think it makes the room feel bigger. There’s still some work to do before the master bedroom makeover is complete. We need new carpets and the wardrobe doors need a lick of paint, but all in all, it seems to be coming together. I also want to find out how we can disguise our TV when not in use, so please share any recommendations!
