Am I the only blogger disappeared for the autumn, reappearing in early Winter like a backwards hedgehog? Yes, probably? Anywho, excusing the slight pause in posts, I’m back today sharing the reveal of our grey kitchen. If you follow us on Instagram you’ll have seen that I share a LOT of snaps of the kitchen, but I’ve never really blogged about it (apart from the shutter reveal earlier this year).
Really I’ve been waiting for the kitchen to be painted before sharing as it was an olive green colour. I actually quite liked the colour which we’d used ourselves in previous homes. In here though it just made the space feel quite dark, which is not great for everyday life OR taking photos for your interior blog!
Anyway, enough waffle, the short story is that we finally got the kitchen painted about a month ago! Although we like to DIY whenever we can neither one of us fancied painting around all of the cupboards. Luckily we have a good friend that’s a decorator, so he painted it for us relatively cheaply – winner! The colour we decided on was Farrow & Ball’s Pavillion Gray. We probably could have gone a little darker in hindsight, but we’ve got a lot of light grey in the house and it does make it feel more cohesive. Perhaps if we ever change the kitchen?
In case you were wondering the kitchen itself is from Howdens. This was one of the main selling points when we brought the house. I actually used to work for Howdens (in HR, not kitchen design sadly) so knew from experience that the kitchen would be good quality – as you’d expect for the price!
The other thing I’d been wanting to change was the light above the dining table. I’ll share more on that in a later post, as we had a few contenders before deciding on this DIY ourselves.
What do you think, do you like our newly grey kitchen? Would you have gone darker? If you want to see how our tastes have improved over time you can see one of previous kitchens here.
