Well that was quite a gap wasn’t it? I’ve been active over on Instagram (follow me here), but have definitely been neglecting posting on here a little! In case you didn’t know, I’ve also been busy growing a baby (Our first, a little girl, due at the end of August) which is why I’m sharing some of my favourite Scandinavian nursery inspiration today.
We have actually finished our little girl’s nursery, which I will share in the next couple of weeks. However, the rooms below were really instrumental in helping us pull the room together.
Our nursery is quite small, so our biggest challenge has been making the room work for us with enough storage to show off the pretty items – little outfits, and hide the not so pretty – nappies! I’d have loved a wardrobe in here, but there isn’t enough space, so alternative storage solutions were most definitely needed:
This shelf from Nordic House was my first preference, but it unfortunately was out of stock.
They also have this slightly different shelf, which is beautiful but pricey. Babies are expensive so we’ve tried to recreate this on a budget in the actual nursery.
This was the other shelf I kept stumbling across on Pinterest. I absolutely love it – but unfortunately I know I don’t have the patience to recreate it at home!
The final alternative storage solution I found was a ladder propped in the corner as a hanging rail. I think this is a great idea for a small space, and may still look to do this once baby with her no doubt rapidly expanding wardrobe.
For the actual furniture I knew I wanted a cot (obviously) and a changing table/chest of drawers. It’ll be no surprise but I wanted these to be fairly neutral, not only because our whole home is, but also because of the small space. We decided on the Lulworth set from Mothercare, but there are so many other beautiful alternatives out there:
The final thing I still have to buy/make is some sort of mobile for the nursery. I know she won’t be in there for the first 6 months, but some of these mobiles I’ve seen are stunning!
So these are a handful of the images that inspired our nursery decoration, stay tuned and I promise we’ll be sharing an update of our finished nursery soon!
